I'm going back on skates!

My name is Margot, but in roller derby most people know me as Menstruella.
In August 2016, I started studying in my dream program, a sports coaching and management degree in Vierumäki. Travelling back and forth to Helsinki by public transports was expensive, time demanding, tiring, and sometimes downright impossible as buses and trains wouldn't run after practice ended, so I stopped playing.

I have decided to go back on skates, at first recreationally, and if I have fun again and time manage well, to competitive play!

I started this blog to help me stay on track and keep myself accountable to my goals.
I will probably use a weekly training diary format, but let's see!

Some background:

From October 2011 to September 2016 I trained with and played for:
Roller Derby Lorient
Duchesses, Nantes Derby Girls
Rec league, London Rollergirls
Batter C Power, London Rollergirls
Queen B's, Helsinki Roller Derby
Kinapori Fistfunkers and All Colours, Kallio Rolling Rainbow

I keep involved with the derby community by coaching, mostly the Finnish men's national team.

I have been strength training since September 2013, and consistently with Optimal Performance Center since July 2015.

I started playing ice hockey in October 2016, and get to try on a bunch of sports and activities while studying, such as lacrosse, baseball, football, basketball, cheerleading, crossfit, beer pong...

Apart from a few activities here and there as a kid and pre-teen, I barely ever played sports before roller derby, therefore my overall motor skills are poorly developed and I tend to struggle in sports :D

Anyway, I'm Menstru, and this is my come back!
